Paper Folding Activity

Folding papers is an ancient art that has originated from Japan under the name Origami. Through a process that combines mathematics, language arts, Asian culture and creative design, a square sheet of paper is transformed into almost anything imaginable.

Following these beautiful words, Florescent Public School had organised a colourful paper folding activity for the students of class-1 to class-9. Origami has come into use by educators and occupational therapists to generate a sense of purpose and completion into students. The students from class 1-2-3 worked with coloured papers amd meticulously guided through a process to create a mouse and a bat and a fish. Though basic the students showed great interest in doing so. The higher class students of grade 4-5-6-7 were among the participants to create a little advanced versions of Dog, cat and icecreams. *Through folding papers, students learn that mistakes can be reversed. An improperly folded crease is not a permanent symbol of failure.* Students of higher grade of 8-9 created goggles and fish to depict their creativity into crafts. This was an activity that fits ideally into interdisciplinary and multi-cultural programs. The activity was practiced in a highly-engaging and motivating environment within which children extend their geometric experiences and the skill of spatial visualization.

Florescent Public school hopes that all the students take great deal of knowledge and skills with them along with their beautifully crafted masterpieces.
