International Yoga Day

When the country’s leader puts an effort in highlighting and promoting the nation’s culture out to the world, it becomes a responsibility of us as a citizen of the country to assist in doing so. Today we, Florescent Public School did the same thing for our International Yoga Day which was initiated by the Prime Minister of the country. Florescent Public School organised an activity for the students to do yoga at the campus. A bright early morning with the campus ground filled with students wearing 4 distinct colours, Red for Group Abhimanyu, Blue for Dhruv, Green for Eklavya and Yellow for Prahlad. Not only was this to promote the Indian Yoga culture but it also benefits the students. Research suggests that yoga might improve attention and memory and alleviate academic stress, three factors that are important for academic success. Florescent Public School wishes everyone a very Happy International Yoga Day. May we all achieve emotional regulation, academic performance, reduced anxiety and resilience to stress and strive to achieve our goals.

Rathyatra Activity

For Indians, especially those who follow Hinduism, Rathyatra is a very important festival. The popularity of the festival can be gauged from the fact that people from all across the globe arrive in Puri to have a glimpse of it. No matter which part of the world they are based in, the devotees of Lord Jagannath make it a point to reach Puri and seek His blessings during this festival. Florescent Public School organised activities for the students of the school for them to be able to enjoy the festival. The students of nursery were provided with a cut-out of Lord Jagannath. They were elated with joy when they were asked to decorate the cutout and make it pretty to their imagination. Bright colourful leaves were used to decorate it. The students of class 1 to class 5 were participating in the colouring competition organised by the school. A beautiful potrait of Lord' Rathyatra and the imagination and creativity of the students ran wild across that piece of the paper. A competitive spirit with a backdrop of fun made a completely desired environment for a festival to be celebrated. Florescent Public School wishes all the students a very Happy Rathyatra. We wish for the best for the present and the future.

Red Day Celebration

What a dark place this world would have been if there were no colours or we havent had the ability to perceive the colours. The colours loves and smiles, illuminate the air with energy, vigor, and exuberance. All the colours are basically made up with different combinations of three primary colours- Red, Blue and Yellow. The red color symbolizes enthusiasm, life, and passion. Red has a range of symbolic meanings through many different cultures, including life, health, vigor, war, courage, anger, love and religious fervor. The common thread is that all these require passion. In Indian culture, the colour red holds a very high significance. From auspicious occasions to weddings and to the clothes of god- one can find the presence of colour red. Florescent Public School had organised a craft session for the students of kindergarten to enhance their “learn while play” concept. They learnt several shapes from edgy triangles to curved all-around circles. Making various objects and hearts out of red coloured papers. They also crafted various strawberries out of the pretty red colour and displayed their efforts and crafty talent. Florescent Public School wishes everyone a very Happy Red Day and we hope the words by Alice Meynell signify it: "The true color of life is the color of the body, the color of the covered red, the implicit and not explicit red of the living heart and the pulses. It is the modest color of the unpublished blood."

Zipping Activity

For any parent, it is a mammoth task to ask children to keep their belongings safe and at their place. Stacking them correctly or even putting them back in their bags or pockets and zipping them close. Zips have been a nightmare for the parents since using them improperly could cause injuries to the children. Florescent Public School organised a zipping activity for the students of pre-primary. This helps them to learn to use the zippers responsibly. The ability to manage clothing fasteners supports self-dressing skills and fosters independence with kids. In the every day activities, as well as in the occupational therapy world, self-dressing is an important activity of daily living or occupation. The students were taught and practised on the jackets or purses and bags. This enhances Bilateral hand coordination & hand preference, Controlled release skills and Eye-hand coordination. Florescent Public School aims to create an inclusive environment for all kids and aiming to teach the use of motor skills at a young age to identify any difficulties and promote self-dependence.

Maths Activity

Mathematics provides students with essential mathematical skills and knowledge in algebra, measurement and geometry, and statistics and probability. It develops the numeracy capabilities that all students need in their personal, work and civic life, and provides the fundamentals on which mathematical specialties and professional applications of mathematics are built. Understanding the full effect of mathematics in the live of a student, Florescent Public School organised multiple events for students ranging from grade 1 to grade 10. With different understanding and problem solving skills the early grades of class 1-2-3 were given simple additions and skip counting while including colouring and craft activity to keep students engrossed. While students of class 4-5-6 worked on their place value charts. This helps in developing increasingly sophisticated and refined mathematical understanding and fluency and using arts and craft to make it more appealing. Students of class 7-8 were engrossed in their geometrical activity of interior angles of triangle and on a working model of multiplication respectively. Working on these shows interrelated and interdependent concepts and systems which students apply beyond the classrooms. The higher classes of grade 9-10 were participants to summation of n natural numbers and factorising the quadratic polynomial. Florescent Public School hopes that all the students would take back some new knowledge to the vast sea they behold. Since these carefully paced, in-depth study of critical skills and concepts are what they would later find to be a building foundation of their future self.

Paper Folding Activity

Folding papers is an ancient art that has originated from Japan under the name Origami. Through a process that combines mathematics, language arts, Asian culture and creative design, a square sheet of paper is transformed into almost anything imaginable. Following these beautiful words, Florescent Public School had organised a colourful paper folding activity for the students of class-1 to class-9. Origami has come into use by educators and occupational therapists to generate a sense of purpose and completion into students. The students from class 1-2-3 worked with coloured papers amd meticulously guided through a process to create a mouse and a bat and a fish. Though basic the students showed great interest in doing so. The higher class students of grade 4-5-6-7 were among the participants to create a little advanced versions of Dog, cat and icecreams. *Through folding papers, students learn that mistakes can be reversed. An improperly folded crease is not a permanent symbol of failure.* Students of higher grade of 8-9 created goggles and fish to depict their creativity into crafts. This was an activity that fits ideally into interdisciplinary and multi-cultural programs. The activity was practiced in a highly-engaging and motivating environment within which children extend their geometric experiences and the skill of spatial visualization. Florescent Public school hopes that all the students take great deal of knowledge and skills with them along with their beautifully crafted masterpieces.

Vegetable Printing Activity

Arts and crafts are the earliest forms of communication and recording information. Our great great ancestors used to store information on the walls of cave. The same way art and drawing also helps in enhancing the creativity of a child if introduced at an early age. Artistic pursuits such as music, dramatic play and the visual arts contribute to how children understand creativity and develop their own sense of identity. Florescent Public School had organised a vegetable printing activity for the students of pre primary. Vegetables like onions, potatoes and lady fingers were used for dipping them in colour and printing on the papers to resemble balloons, flower petals and other artistic visualities. Children’s artistic abilities are often underestimated; and that when given opportunities to explore artistic practice and creative thinking, they generally have stronger outcomes in other subjects such as science and maths. If a connection to visual arts is properly developed in early childhood, it does not need to become an anomaly that people turn to in extreme circumstances, such as a pandemic, but rather the backbone of one's creativity and expression. We hope all the students learnt the beautiful presence of nature that took the form of food and a beautiful drawing on the paper. As said in the famous words “Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.”

Fun with Monsoon

“Aav re varsad Dhebariyo varsaad…” The tunes of the poem on which we spent our glorious childhood in the august of monsoon. With rain drizzling and the sound of thunderclap, we all grew up to be responsible adults and we continued this beautiful journey by allowing our children to go through the same happiness we all were exposed to. Keeping the spirit of monsoon in mind, Florescent Public School organised a monsoon activity for the students. They showcased a beautiful display of their creativity. A smiling beautiful cloud perched upon the blue tube representing the sky where it effortlessly floats around. Below it hangs the colourful ribbons representing the shower of rain drops drenching the cracked ground that has been longing for it to be brought back from the lifeless stage. The city overall turns out quite beautiful and soothing. After the hot gloomy days of summer, the rainy season hits and removes the dusty look and brings it back to fresh and lively. It also keeps the surrounding flora healthy and thus takes care of the fauna living with it. Florescent Public School hopes all the students learnt the beauty of monsoon and how it is important and essential to the world. We ask all the students to stay safe and enjoy splashing in the days of monsoon.

Fancy Dress Competition
